Stephen Foster Cohen, LAc, MSOM is the founder of AXIOM Holistic and a nationally board certified and state licensed Acupuncturist. Stephen graduated with Honors from TSCA in New York City. He focuses on helping his patients understand why discomfort, illness or disease manifest in their lives and how to help them heal in a balanced and holistic way. Through acupuncture, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) and other modalities, Stephen treats and encourages his patients to return to their truest self and wellbeing.
Stephen is trained in various styles of acupuncture including Traditional Chinese Medicine and Trigger Point Dry Needling, and specializes in advanced Japanese techniques developed by Kiiko Matsumoto. This world-renowned systematic, effective, palpatory method provides instant feedback, and embraces the advance of modern medicine as part of the diagnosis and treatment process. Stephen has had the unique privilege of learning and practicing under the direct supervision of Kiiko Matsumoto in the United States and Japan.
Through his comprehensive training and experience, Stephen’s expertise includes fertility and other aspects of reproductive health for men and women, sports medicine, and internal conditions. He is able to have such diversity through the combination of his extensive background in the field, believing in the importance of integrative medicine, and intuitive understanding of the body and mind. Training programs Stephen has completed to advance his knowledge and skills include a two year internship at The Holistic Health Center, and certificates in Oncology Acupuncture at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Acupuncture for Labor and Delivery held at Lutheran Hospital. Stephen is also fortunate to have studied NLP with Derek O’Neill. Other trainings include Zero Balancing, Reiki, and Advanced Pulse Diagnosis. He has also studied in Japan with Master Practitioner Kawaii, and others well known in the field of Acupuncture.
Additionally, Stephen has cofounded Changing Health, Inc.—a national nonprofit that provides acupuncture to underserved communities. He also provides workshops and trainings on a variety of topics. Previous roles include Advisory Board member of a college specializing in acupuncture and supporting didactic lectures and clinical supervision.
Stephen maintains his certification and license in New York and South Carolina.
For almost a decade, Stephen worked for top accounting firms—Arthur Andersen LLP, Deloitte LLP, and Ernst & Young LLP—as a Tax Manager in Mergers and Acquisitions. After his own successful experience with acupuncture and herbology, Stephen left this field for his true calling – East Asian Medicine.
