Michelle has 25 years of clinical experience combining techniques of acupuncture, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and massage therapy, with a devotion to assist individuals on their journey to health! After a lengthy career in clinical massage therapy, Michelle continued her education in Oriental Medicine and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Acupuncture through the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM – 1996). In addition to completing her Master of Science degree by completing extensive coursework in Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, Michelle has also traveled to Tokyo, Japan to experience intensive training with 40 senior practitioners of Toyo Hari, a highly refined form of 5-element acupuncture emerging from Japan which focuses on treating the root and branch of imbalances in the body. Michelle completed the program certified by the Japanese Toyo Hari Medical Association, Tokyo, Japan. In acquiring 25 years of experience in clinical therapy for pain relief, Michelle offers vast study and experience with natural therapies such as herbal prescriptions, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplementation, yoga & qi gong exercise, as well as lifestyle counseling to assist patients in restoring a healthy balance. Michelle has completed many advanced trainings in electro-dermal screening with naturopaths from around the country, and works as a consultant training acupuncturists, chiropractors and other medical doctors seeking to incorporate effective electrodermal screening in their practice. Treatments may include modalities such as acupuncture needles used systemically to treat the root of problems generating symptoms, or local acupuncture to increase circulation, improve range of motion, and relieve pain. As needed, other supplemental treatments are added such as moxibustion or infrared heat therapy, oriental massage techniques such as gua sha (holographic meridian therapy), cupping, tui na, acupressure, reflexology, aromatherapy, external herbal soaks or plasters, auricular (ear) acupuncture / acupressure. With her extensive background in various types of bodywork therapy and an established referral network, Michelle can assist patients in determining which other techniques would assist patients in their quest for better health, including referrals to appropriate specialists when indicated. In addition to her extensive practical clinical experience, Michelle has also taught extensive courses in Massage Therapy Theory & Technique, Anatomy & Physiology, and Modalities associated with Holistic patient care at various local Technical College Massage Therapy Programs.
