Marcela Bowie

Acupuncture Physician

Marcela Bowie has been involved with natural medicine since she was a young girl when her mother used diet, homeopathy and natural herbal medicine to treat her. Growing up, she would visit a homeopath, naturopath and an acupuncturist when needed. Her first experience with acupuncture and chinese medicine was when she was 15 years old and was diagnosed with bronchitis, sinusitis and a throat infection all at the same time. After only 2 acupuncture treatments and 5 days of herbs and homeopathy she was back to herself and back to health. Completing her undergraduate degree in 2000 at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, Marcela Bowie graduated with a BA in Asian and International Studies majoring in Chinese and Japanese Languages and Political Science. She has also studied in both Japan as an exchange student and in China where she studied Chinese language at Beijing Foreign Studies University. After moving to Florida, Marcela Bowie studied at Florida College of Integrative Medicine and graduated with a BS in Health Studies and a MS in Oriental Medicine. During her studies, Marcela Bowie interned in hospitals in both Shanghai and Kunming, China. In 2021, Marcela Bowie completed a Transitional Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science. She has been a licensed Acupuncture Physician in the State of Florida since January 2009. Marcela Bowie continues to advance her skills with various continuing education modules including advanced Xing Nao Kai Qiao training. Marcela Bowie has been treating patients in the Melbourne – Brevard, Florida area since 2009. She has worked closely with a neurologist, Dr. Richard Newman and loves working with an integrative approach to medicine. She has gained valuable experience treating difficult neurological conditions as well as a wide variety of other illnesses such as infertility, pain, and arthritis, to name a few. Marcela Bowie has focused more recently on helping patients undergoing oncology treatments manage their healing journey and to help them with various treatment side effects. Marcela Bowie greatly enjoys her work and feels honored to be able to help her patients regain health and quality of life. Marcela Bowie has also been very fortunate to study a system of pulse diagnosis that has traditionally been passed down from teacher to student for many years. She has worked closely with Dr. Leon Hammer, Brandt Stickley and other colleagues to learn Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis. This is a sophisticated diagnostic tool that allows her to assess not only where the patient’s health is in the present moment but also about their past health issues, how they have come to this current state of health and, where they may be headed without intervention. Correct diagnosis is essential to correct treatment. Marcela Bowie has also studied Ayurvedic Body Therapy and is also certified in Maya Abdominal Therapy by the Arvigo Institute.
