Acupuncturist

As an acupuncturist and integrative health provider for over 25 years, I use both Eastern and Western modalities in my practice. I’m a biochemist-turned-acupuncturist and I enjoy blending aspects of both approaches to relieve pain and restore your health naturally.

Your treatment is individual and tailored to your needs, preferences and budget. I spend time with each patient and give my full attention to your needs and your treatment. It is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, and all aspects of your health are addressed, while prioritizing your primary complaint.
I will coordinate and communicate with your medical doctors or any other health care providers, as needed.

In my clinical practice I combine Japanese meridian-style acupuncture, as taught by Kiiko Matsumoto, with Trigger Point Release and Classical Chinese Acupuncture. I also work with Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy using homeopathic, herbal and nutritional medicines, and LED and laser light therapy.

When I first discovered acupuncture, I received treatments that helped me overcome a severe and chronic case of sinusitis and bronchitis that was resisting all medical treatments. That experience was so remarkable that it began to turn my skeptical scientific mind in the direction of studying acupuncture. As I began my studies, I continued working in molecular biology research at the University of California, Santa Cruz, studying genes in fruit flies that might eventually give us clues to controlling cancer. My curricular studies were through Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz and San Francisco College of Acupuncture, and in 1991 I completed a state-approved clinical apprenticeship with Robert Zeiger, L.Ac., OMD, leading to licensure in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

In 2002 I relocated to New York City and studied at Tri-State College of Acupuncture, delving deeper into Acupuncture Physical Medicine and Trigger Point Release with by Dr. Mark Seem, and with Kiiko Matsumoto in her unique style of Japanese acupuncture.

I work with you to evaluate your condition and guide you in a personalized treatment strategy.
I work extensively with Pain Syndromes (sports injuries, back pain, disc herniation, sciatica, headache and migraine, arthritis, and other pain-related conditions).

In addition, I work with internal medicine disorders (digestive problems, fatigue & burn out, insomnia, and hormonal imbalances), among many other conditions.

Since we all want to stay young and healthy as we age, I have an anti-aging approach that incorporates, Detoxification, Weight Loss and Fat Reduction, Skin Toning,, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Acupoint Therapy to improve appearance of the face, neck and body naturally, with no surgery or artificial fillers.

My Credentials
Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (Dipl. Ac., Dipl. C.H, NCCAOM), and licensed in California, New York, and Florida, I’m both a scientist and a healer.

I graduated with Highest Honors in Biochemistry from Marlboro College and went on to pursue doctorate studies in Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University before beginning my studies in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Since 2004 I’ve incorporated functional medicine testing and nutritional therapy into my practice, providing even greater clinical success in treating a wide range of disorders.

I’m a lifelong meditation practitioner and teacher. I teach meditation as well as self-healing breathwork and exercises for use at home.

My goal, while providing effective treatments, is to teach self-care and help patients to steer the course of their own health care, drawing upon the best of both conventional and complementary medicine.
