Therapeutic Style: Dr. Bayard’s therapeutic orientation consists of working with individuals, couples, and families from a systemic framework. What that means is that she believes that problems do not reside within the individual but rather in relation to how the person is coping to the stressors in life. Her therapeutic interventions consist of using Solution Focused Brief Therapy techniques with an emphasis on finding holistic solutions that quickly brings forth change. Giselle provides a safe, nurturing, non-judgmental environment where clients could talk openly in a relaxed atmosphere. In her office all clients are treated with dignity, with an understanding that everyone’s experience should be honored and respected. Dr. Bayard is passionate about cultural competence and diversity training for therapists. She trains clinicians on cultural competence and recently published on this topic in the International Journal for Solution Focused Practitioners. Recent work also includes consulting on mental health services and effective interventions for Native American populations.
