Personal Trainer

I started my fitness journey my senior year of college. I started to gain weight and my dance technique was suffering and I was having trouble keeping up with the other dancers. Several of my friends were working out at the gym a few times a week and I was curious about starting a workout routine. The only problem was I had never used gym equipment and I had no idea what I was doing! After attempting to workout on my own for a couple weeks I decided to hire a personal trainer to teach me how to use the equipment, design a workout, and correct my form. I started working with my trainer twice a week and saw drastic improvement! Not only did I have a ton of fun I also lost weight, became stronger, had more endurance, and my dancing started to improve again. Inspired by my trainer I became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer in 2013. At the time I only intended to be a Personal Trainer part time but I wasn’t done with my journey yet. I was determined to pursue an arts administration career, but for the next three years I became increasingly unhappy, started to gain weight again, and became less active. I decided I needed to make a huge change in my life. I was passionate about health and fitness and was tired of working for other people who didn’t share my passion. I decided to focus on building my own personal training business and I became happier, less stressed, and was able to create a healthier lifestyle for myself. Now it is my mission to help empower others to take charge of their health and live better lives through fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle changes! My passion for health and wellness started a few years earlier when I was 16. I had asthma, severe allergies, chronic infections, and chronic migraines (an average of 2 a month). After reaching a dead end with doctors who couldn’t figure out why I was chronically ill or come up with a treatment plan that helped I started to seek out alternative care. I started seeing a chiropractor, learned about holistic nutrition, acupuncture, and the chemicals in everyday products. I went from eating a traditional American Midwest diet, relying on my steroid inhaler, and using conventional cleaning and personal care products to eating an all organic diet of whole foods, using chemical free plant based products in my home and using alternative care as my main treatment. The result? I cured my migraines, no longer use an inhaler, rarely have allergy symptoms, and no more chronic infections! This is why I incorporate nutrition and lifestyle coaching with my personal training practice. Helping people make healthier eating choices and reducing their exposure to chemicals can have a positive impact in their ability to recover from exercise, have more energy, get better sleep, and help alleviate symptoms that interfere with their daily lives.
