Carrie Andress

Acupuncturist

Carrie Andress is passionate about health and well-being and has been an Acupuncturist for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and a Masters from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture. At Tri-State, Carrie quickly gained a reputation for her developed sense of palpatory skills and needling technique. She is certified to practice Acupuncture nationally.

Carrie has over 30 years experience in Nutritional Counseling and Wellness Coaching with athletes and the general public. She continued her training by receiving a Functional Medicine Nutrition certification by Full Body Systems with Andrea Nakayama, one of the premier functional medicine programs in the world. The program is accredited by the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP), and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP).

Carrie’s success is due to her continued training with specialists in Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and other healing modalities. Carrie learned Cranio Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute, Zero Balancing with Jim McCormick and Tui Na Massage, an osteopathic medical treatment, by Tom Bisio and Frank Butler. She has advanced training in Treating Infertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine from Deborah Waddell, and received specialized instruction in Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation from Mary Elizabeth-Wakefield. She completed two additional years of training in Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Some medical schools use an organ-based approach when teaching. In this system, all teachings of anatomy, physiology, and pathology are focused on one organ system (i.e. the heart) before moving to the next organ system. Carrie learned this organ-based approach when she studied Functional Medicine Nutrition. The other medical professionals that went through the program with her were stunned at the depth of these teachings, far beyond what they had learned in medical school. Learning how the organs function has helped her become a better clinician and researcher to benefit her patients. By integrating various techniques, and helping people through diet, lifestyle modification, supplements and herbs, Carrie’s goal is to transform people to their highest potential for better health.
