Alyssa holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Acupuncture from Tri State College of Acupuncture in NYC and is nationally recognized as a Diplomat of Acupuncture.
She is board certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), certified in Clean Needle Technique (CNT) by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, & is licensed to practice Acupuncture in the State of New Jersey.
Alyssa’s passion for science and functional medicine led her to pursue and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Mount Saint Mary College in New York. Upon graduating from MSMC, Alyssa worked in offices whose services included physical therapy, strength training and conditioning, and later, acupuncture.
Experience in these facilities strengthened her knowledge of patient care and various outlets of rehabilitation. Her 17 year background of dance also inspired her to enter a medical field where one can rehabilitate injuries with manual and holistic modalities.
Alyssa was introduced to acupuncture years ago and sought treatment for general stress relief and insomnia. The foundations of theory and science behind this medicine, along with her positive results obtained from treatment, sparked her interest and led her to pursue acupuncture as a career.
Alyssa is trained in three different styles of Acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kiiko Matsumoto Japanese Style Acupuncture (KM), and Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM-‘dry needling’/trigger point). She is also educated in various non-needling techniques that are either incorporated into treatment sessions or that can be used in place of needles completely, such as cupping, guasha, and tuina.
These needling and non-needling methods allow Alyssa to provide integrated and well-rounded treatments to patients seeking help for a wide variety of medical conditions ranging from pain management, to digestive or reproductive disharmony, to mental health and wellness.
