Kay Fontana, Ed.D.

Wellness Coach

Meet Your Wellness Coach, Dr. Kay Fontana I am Kay Fontana, Ed.D., a lifelong learning and natural explorer. I have made it my mission to help women experiencing pain associated with chronic illness or injury to learn to balance heart, mind, body, and soul to achieve optimal wellness. After a series of losses, watching family and friends struggle with chronic health issues, such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, asthma, Crohn’s disease, arthritis, and cancer, and seeing the effects of the standard American diet (SAD), I became very clear about my life’s purpose. On my journey, I have learned from leading experts in the field of health, nutrition, healing, and spirituality in order to coach women who are experiencing various levels of pain so they can lead a more abundant life. I have dedicated the last several years researching and learning in the areas of holistic health and wellness. I am a Licensed Spiritual Practitioner, an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Master Practitioner, and am certified as a Holistic Life, Wellness, Brain Fitness, Nutrition, and Stress Management Coach, and Meditation Instructor. I received my Ed.D. from Grand Canyon University with the doctoral dissertation, “Mindfulness and Compassion: A Phenomenological Study of Hospice Dementia Care Volunteers.” My research emerged from my experience watching my mother walk the journey with Alzheimer’s until her death in hospice care, which also led to my work as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and a Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider. In my work with grieving individuals and families, I noticed an overwhelming need to change the healthcare system. As each individual shared their loved one’s battle with their diseases, I saw chronic illness and pain treated with the same medications that failed to change the course of their disease. Those include pain medications. I have experienced my own battles with chronic pain as multiple back injuries limited my mobility and left me nearly disabled. However, I was able to change the course of my injury with physical therapy, diet, exercise, and absolutely NO pain medications. My own experiences and concern for health turned into a passion for finding holistic methods for those suffering from pain. It became my mission to make a difference and help women experiencing pain due to injuries and chronic illness achieve optimal wellness by exploring alternative treatments and help individuals connect heart, mind, body, and soul for an abundant life. I am the founder of Light of Abundance Wellness Coaching. I am here to guide you on an exploration of your chronic pain issues and help you regain the optimal wellness you deserve. Using heart-centered coaching, we will explore your current pain issues and limiting beliefs around your pain and then develop a plan for optimal wellness. In the face of illness, we often get stuck thinking that things will never get better, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I encourage you to schedule a complimentary wellness check below to see how I can help you. I look forward to working with you on your wellness journey! With love and light, Dr. Kay
